Burglars Steal Late Husband’s Ashes in Heartbreaking Bury Raid
A grieving family in Bury has been left devastated after burglars smashed into their garage, stealing power tools — and the ashes of their late husband and father.
Thieves Steal Treasured Ashes and Tools
Greater Manchester Police were called to Brandlesholme Road on Tuesday, September 19, following the shocking break-in. While power tools were taken, the worst blow was the theft of Nigel’s ashes, kept in a mint green box inside a burgundy tote bag.
Nigel passed away earlier this year after a brave fight with pancreatic cancer. The family kept his ashes on his cherished workbench in the garage — a place where Nigel found peace and happiness.
Family Plea: Bring Back Nigel’s Ashes
The family, who wish to remain anonymous, shared their heartache with a public plea:
“Our lives have been shattered by this cruel act. Nigel’s ashes mean the world to us, and we just want them back. His final wish was to have them scattered at Woodbank Cricket Club once the season ended. Please help us honour his memory.”
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
