London experienced a violent weekend between September 20 and 22, with five people stabbed across the capital. Tragically, one of the victims, a 15-year-old boy, was killed. The incidents took place in Woolwich, Harrow, Dagenham, and Stockwell.
Schoolboy Dies After Stabbing in Woolwich
The most heart-wrenching incident involved 15-year-old Daejaun Campbell, who was found in a pool of blood on Eglinton Road, Woolwich, around 6:30pm on September 22. Daejaun was pronounced dead shortly after the attack. His death has left the local community devastated.
Tributes have been laid at the scene, including flowers, candles, and blue balloons with heartfelt messages. Friends described Daejaun as a “good guy” who “never had an issue with anyone” and a “very, very smart and well-behaved” student who loved playing basketball, football, and rugby.
Two men, aged 52 and 18, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.
Tasha Collins, a nearby resident, described the harrowing scene. “I heard screaming, grabbed a sheet, and ran to help,” she recalled. She stemmed the flow of blood while paramedics arrived. “He was saying to me ‘I’m 15, don’t let me die,’ and I told him, ‘you’re not going to die, mate.’”
Two Men Hospitalised After Double Stabbing in Harrow
On the same day, police were called to Chatsworth Gardens in Harrow, where a 29-year-old man had been stabbed just before 6:45am. He was rushed to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening. Later, a second 21-year-old man admitted himself to the hospital with stab injuries, also non-life-threatening. No arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing.
Teenager Stabbed in Dagenham
A separate stabbing in Dagenham on September 22 saw an 18-year-old man rushed to hospital after being attacked on Freshwater Road. Police were called around 7:10pm after receiving reports of a man with a knife. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening, and no arrests have been made.
Man in His 20s Stabbed in Stockwell
In Stockwell, a man in his 20s was taken to hospital following a stabbing on Gosling Way around 8:15pm on September 21. Police and London Ambulance Service attended the scene, and the man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made as investigations continue.
A Violent Weekend in the Capital
The stabbings have once again raised concerns over violent crime in the capital. The Woolwich stabbing in particular, where a schoolboy lost his life, has left the community in shock.
Police continue to investigate all incidents, and anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.
The violent weekend serves as a stark reminder of the continuing battle against knife crime in London, with many calling for more to be done to ensure the safety of young people across the capital.
