New Year’s Day Horror: Hunt Saboteurs Ambushed in East Sussex

A peaceful New Year’s celebration turned violent in Herstmonceux, East Sussex, when members of the Hunt Saboteurs Association were brutally attacked after their car broke down on Church Road just after noon.

Violent Ambush After Breakdown

The saboteurs were waiting for recovery when a gang of attackers swooped. The group suspects the assault was planned, tipped off by an ex-hunt staffer and an accomplice who spotted them stranded and vulnerable.

Within an hour of being stranded, the saboteurs faced a terrifying and savage assault.

Masked Men in Hunting Gear Launch Attack

A shocking video reveals four masked men in hunting attire smashing car windows, ripping bags and cameras from victims, and wielding weapons like a road cone and a tyre.

Simon, trapped inside the car, was relentlessly punched. He recalled, “I thought we were safe outside the church, but the attack was far worse than expected. A security guard showed up just in time to stop them dragging me out and causing more harm.”

Police Step In: Appeal for Witnesses

Sussex Police confirmed they responded to the incident at 1:37 pm on January 1. The car was damaged, and one occupant was hospitalised as a precaution. Another victim reported their camera was stolen during the chaos.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward online or call 101, quoting reference 829 of 01/01.
