Police hunt crooks behind two linked Crawley tool thefts

Van seen stealing power tools at building site

Police are on the case after two businesses in Crawley were hit by thieves using the same vehicle. Around 2.10pm on Thursday, 12 January, a dark blue Ford Transit van (reg CY62 LWL) was spotted driving into the yard of a building contractor’s site in Forge Wood.

Thieves made off with a haul of power tools stolen from a shed on the premises.

Same van tied to crematorium raid hours later

The van didn’t stop there. Later the same day, it was linked to another theft of tools and equipment from a crematorium on Balcombe Road.

Police seek help to ID suspect and owner

Officers describe the suspect as a white man, aged 50-60, about 5’9” tall, with short dark hair. They’re eager to find the owner of the van and anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Contact police online or call 101 quoting serial 451 of 13/01.
