Fourth Iranian Man Busted in London Terror Probe
London cops have arrested a fourth Iranian man in a major counter-terror investigation. The 31-year-old was snapped up at a north-west London home on the morning of Friday, 9 May 2025, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.
This follows the earlier detention of three other Iranian nationals, aged 39, 44, and 55, who were arrested in coordinated raids across the capital on Saturday, 3 May. The Met’s Counter Terrorism Command is leading the operation.
All Four Held Under National Security Act
All suspects are now being held under Section 27 of the National Security Act 2023, which allows police to detain individuals linked to threats against UK security. Warrants extending the detention of the first three men have been granted up to Saturday, 17 May.
Separate Plot Targets Israeli Embassy
In a separate but unrelated swoop, five more Iranian nationals were arrested last Saturday in raids across Greater Manchester, London, and Swindon. The police described this as a “suspected plot to target a specific premises” — revealed to be the Israeli embassy in London.
Police stressed the two operations are not connected. All nine men remain in custody as counter-terrorism inquiries ramp up.
“Our operations reflect our determination to prevent, detect and disrupt any threats to the UK’s national security,” said a Met Police spokesperson.
