Huge Blaze Tears Through London Recycling Plant
A massive fire ripped through a recycling facility on Weir Road late on Saturday night, sparking a full-scale emergency response. Six fire engines and about 40 firefighters were scrambled by the London Fire Brigade to tackle the inferno that sent shockwaves through the local community.
Inferno Engulfs Waste Building
The fire ignited at around 10:26 PM, quickly consuming a single-storey building packed with domestic waste. The London Fire Brigade control centre was flooded with 46 urgent calls from alarmed residents, prompting an immediate and aggressive fight against the flames.
Smoke Warning and Overnight Battle
“This is likely to be a protracted incident with our firefighters working to damp down deep-seated pockets of fire throughout the day,” warned Station Commander Matt Gregory. He urged locals to stay indoors, keep windows and doors shut amid thick smoke in the area.
Fire crews battled through the night, finally bringing the blaze under control at 7:34 AM Sunday. But they stayed on site for hours more to snuff out hotspots and stop any chance of reignition.
Investigation Underway as Council Urges Caution
