Young Man Shot Dead in Hackney Late Friday
Police are hunting witnesses after a fatal shooting in Hackney left a man in his 20s dead.
The tragedy unfolded around 11.30pm on Friday, 5 June, in Brackenfield Close, E5, where officers were called to reports of gunfire.
Victim Dies at Scene Despite Emergency Response
London Ambulance Service arrived to find the victim suffering gunshot wounds outside a property he had just left. Despite frantic efforts from medics and officers, the young man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed, but formal identification is pending.
22-Year-Old Arrested as Homicide Team Investigates
Homicide detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are leading the murder probe. Detective Chief Inspector Paul Considine urged witnesses to come forward.
“We know there were people in Brackenfield Close at the time of the shooting. If you saw anything or have information, please get in contact immediately,” he said.
“This tragic incident has robbed a young man of his life and devastated his family and friends. Help us bring those responsible to justice.”
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at an east London police station.
