Man Seriously Injured in West Bromwich Dog Attack

A man has been left with serious injuries following a dog attack in West Bromwich this afternoon.

West Midlands Police confirmed they were called to an address on Ripon Drive at approximately 4:40pm after reports of a man being attacked in a garden at the rear of the property.

Emergency services, including ambulance crews, provided treatment at the scene before the injured man was rushed to hospital. His condition is described as serious, but no further details have been released at this stage.

Dog Tasered by Specialist Officers

Specialist officers from the West Midlands Police Dog Unit were deployed and used a Taser to subdue the dog, which subsequently died at the scene. The breed of the dog has not yet been confirmed.

Police have reassured the public that there is no wider threat to the community, and the incident appears to be isolated to the property involved.

Increased Police Presence in the Area

In response to local concern, extra officers will be patrolling Ripon Drive and the surrounding area throughout the evening to provide community reassurance.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said:

“We realise incidents of this nature are concerning to the community, so we will have extra officers in the area tonight to offer reassurance.”

“We are in the early stages of our investigation and people with information should contact us via Live Chat on our website or by calling 101, quoting log number 3714 of 14 March,” the spokesperson added.
