Manhunt Underway After Two Shocking Sex Attacks on Overnight Buses
Police launch urgent hunt for sex attacker after two horrifying assaults on overnight buses in East London.
Attacks Rock Newham and Waltham Forest
The Met’s North East Command Unit is hunting a man linked to two brutal rapes on separate early-morning bus rides. The first attack struck at 2.40am on Monday 1 July in Plaistow South, Newham. A 35-year-old woman walking home was grabbed from behind, raped, and robbed.
Five days later, at 4.20am on Saturday 6 July, another victim, aged 31, was attacked in a strikingly similar fashion on Amethyst Road, Waltham Forest. She too was raped and had property stolen.
Police Release Image of Suspect
Detectives treated both crimes as linked due to their similarities. They’ve now released a crucial image of a man seen on a bus in Plaistow just before the first attack.
Officers urge anyone with information or who recognises the man in the picture to come forward immediately.
