Delivery Driver Dragged to Death in Leeds Van Theft Horror

A delivery driver was tragically killed in Leeds after trying to stop a thief from stealing his Amazon parcels van. The hero courier, in his forties, was on his rounds Tuesday evening when a man jumped into his grey Ford Transit on Alliance Street, West Yorkshire.

In a desperate bid to stop the theft, the driver clung to the passenger door as the van sped off. Horrifically, he was dragged for half a mile before the van crashed into two parked cars on Heights Drive. Despite frantic efforts by paramedics and members of the public, the driver died at the scene.

Suspect Flees, Police Launch Manhunt

The suspect fled the scene, later ditching the stolen van six miles away on Highlands Walk. West Yorkshire Police have launched a major manhunt, calling the crime “truly shocking.” Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle said,

“This appears to be a truly shocking incident where the victim has been killed while going about his business as a parcel delivery driver.

He added the victim’s family is “completely devastated.” Police are digging deep, urging witnesses to come forward and locals to check dashcams and CCTV for any leads.

Amazon confirmed the driver was employed by a third-party courier delivering their parcels. The company offered “deepest sympathies” and pledged full cooperation with the police investigation.

The tragedy has rocked the local community. Social media is flooded with tributes. One user wrote, “RIP to the poor man who’s lost his life doing an honest day’s work.” Another asked, “What is the world coming to when you can’t even be safe doing your job?”
