Murder Hunt Launched After Woman Found Dead in Bromley Flat
Detectives have opened a murder probe following the suspicious death of a 31-year-old woman in Bromley. Police are urgently seeking a man linked to the case as they piece together what happened.
Woman Found Dead at Bromley Address
Officers were called at 6.13pm on Sunday, 20 May after the London Ambulance Service reported a woman found dead at a flat on Chatterton Road, Bromley. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Although formal ID is pending, police are confident the woman is Sophie Cavanagh, 31, from Bromley. Her next of kin have been informed.
Estranged Husband Now Person of Interest
Initial post-mortem results show Sophie’s death is suspicious. Detectives are now racing to find her estranged husband, 34-year-old Martin Cavanagh, who has links to south east London and the south coast.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Vandenbergh of the Homicide and Major Crime command said: “We are working tirelessly to establish exactly what happened before Sophie’s death and I am committed to finding the person responsible for this vicious attack.”
He added: “I would urge anyone who knows the whereabouts of Martin Cavanagh to get in touch. My advice would be not to approach him, but dial 999 or contact the incident room straight away.”
No Arrests Yet as Investigation Continues
No arrests have been made so far. Police enquiries remain ongoing as they follow leads in the hunt for Martin Cavanagh.
