Arson Attacks Blaze Through Chippenham in Dead of Night
Chippenham was rocked by a string of arson attacks in the early hours of this morning (18/10). Police are hunting witnesses after multiple fires caused serious damage across the town.
Vehicle and Bin Set Ablaze in Early Morning Chaos
The fire spree kicked off just after 1:30am on Chelwood Close, where a black Honda Civic was torched and completely destroyed. Minutes later, at around 2:10am, a bin store caught fire at a block of flats on Rudman Park.
Leisure Centre Bus Torched, Building Damaged
CCTV footage revealed the third fire at the Olympiad leisure centre on Sadlers Mead. A bus parked outside was deliberately set alight — also completely destroyed — and nearby buildings sustained damage.
Police confirm all three fires are linked and are treating the incidents as criminal damage.
Police Plea: Help Us Catch These Arsonists
“Luckily, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue teams controlled the blazes quickly, and no one was hurt,” said Sergeant Jansen Carter. “These senseless attacks have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage, including destroying a school bus.” “Our investigations are moving fast. Anyone with info should call 101 and quote crime reference 54200104692. We’re pouring resources into catching those responsible and keeping our communities safe.”
