Swale Kids Get Safety Smarts at Swallows Leisure Centre
More than 16 local primary schools joined the ‘Swale Safety in Action’ event last week, bringing kids together for a vital safety wake-up call.
Lessons on Knives, Drugs, Hate Crime and More
At Swallows Leisure Centre, children were warned about the dangers of carrying knives, taking drugs, and drinking alcohol. They also learned about hate crime, healthy relationships, online safety, and how to stay safe on the road, plus fire and electrical hazards.
Top Agencies Team Up to Protect Youngsters
Family group Salus led the multi-agency event, backed by Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, the RNLI, Kent County Council, and UK Power Networks. Officers from Swale’s brand new Child Centre Policing Team were on hand too, offering vital education and safeguarding advice.
Sergeant: “Helping Kids Make Smart Choices as They Grow”
“This is the third year we’ve run the event,” said Sergeant Carli Deacon of Swale’s Community Safety Unit. “Starting secondary school is exciting but can be daunting. Our aim is to equip young people with the knowledge to spot and avoid dangers.”
“Our officers work across the community, supporting, listening, and educating youngsters. I hope the pupils found the workshops useful and it helps them make positive choices going forward.”
