Met Police make arrest in Lewisham murder probe as hunt for witnesses intensifies
Detectives investigating a stabbing in Lewisham have arrested a suspect and continue to plead for witnesses to come forward.
Stabbing in Lewisham leaves 20-year-old dead
Police were called shortly before 1am on Friday, 4 August to Kender Street, at the junction with Queen’s Road, SE15, after reports of a man being stabbed.
Officers and London Ambulance Service" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene. They found 20-year-old Julian Ebanks-Ford with serious knife wounds.
Despite medics’ best efforts, Julian tragically died later that afternoon in a south London hospital.
Murder investigation launched, suspect in custody
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Wood of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the murder inquiry.
On Saturday, 5 August, police arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
Detectives urgent for witnesses to speak up
“Although we have now made an arrest, I am continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the area of Kender Street to come forward and speak with us,” said DCI Chris Wood.
“We need to know what happened in the moments leading up to Julian being stabbed. Were you there? Did you see or hear anything suspicious? Please get in contact as a matter of urgency.”
