Murder Probe Launched After Fatal Assault at Chichester Pub
A 57-year-old man died following a brutal attack at The Dolphin and Anchor pub in West Street, Chichester. The incident happened around 11pm on Thursday, 20 June.
Man Dies at Scene Despite Emergency Efforts
Police rushed to the scene after the man from South Yorkshire suffered serious head injuries. Paramedics and officers started CPR immediately, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Specialist officers are supporting the victim’s next of kin, who have been informed of the tragic loss.
Two Arrested, Third Suspect on the Run
- A 30-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of murder.
- A 42-year-old man from County Durham was also arrested on suspicion of affray.
- Both remain in police custody.
Meanwhile, a third man suspected of affray has been identified but is still at large. Police are actively searching for him.
City Centre Locked Down, Police Hunt Continues
Authorities have cordoned off part of Chichester’s city centre and stepped up patrols as the investigation continues.
Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Joseph, of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said: “This incident led to the tragic death of a 57-year-old man, and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
“It happened in a busy pub in the city centre, and we’re urging anyone with information to come forward as we seek to establish the exact circumstances.
