Body Found in Crawley Woods – Police Need Your Help to ID Woman
Police are hunting for the identity of a woman found dead in Ewhurst Wood, Langney Green, Crawley on Sunday, October 27. A passerby stumbled upon the body just before 1pm. A post-mortem suggests she died the day before. Detectives say her death is not suspicious. Their focus now is on finding out who she is and telling any next of kin.
Who Was She?
The woman is white, aged between 35 and 45, standing about 5’1” tall and weighing around 9 stone. She has no tattoos, surgical scars, or other unique markings, making ID tough.
She was wearing some standout items:
- Single stone stud earrings plus three white metal hoops in her left ear
- Black Alpha One Menswear XXL T-shirt
- Black No Fear XS jacket
- Purple patterned leggings
- Grey socks and black Puma Suede trainers (size 6.5)
- Cream scarf with a black belt and chain pattern
Possible Eastern European Link
Items found with her hint she may have been from Eastern Europe. Detective Inspector Martin Drabble, leading the enquiry, is desperate for anyone who recognises her or saw her in the area to speak up.
“Someone must have known this woman and may not yet have realised she’s been missing for days,” said DI Drabble. “If you recognise her description or saw her near Ewhurst Wood recently, please contact us.”
