Fake Cops Raid Croydon Home, Snatch £20k and Air Rifle
On Sunday, 25 October 2020, between 4.55pm and 5.10pm, three men posing as police officers targeted a Croydon home on Featherbed Lane. They pulled up in a silver Vauxhall Insignia with a false number plate, NA0 8XHZ, and made their move.
Posing as Police, They Forced Their Way In
The trio wore black baseball caps emblazoned with “police” and utility belts stocked with handcuffs. Flashing fake warrant cards, they claimed to be investigating tax evasion and money laundering. The residents grew suspicious and questioned their story, but not before the gang broke in.
One resident was slammed to the floor and cable-tied with hands behind his back. The fakes threatened to “tear the place apart” if the money wasn’t handed over.
£20,000 and High-Powered Air Rifle Stolen
The crooks made off with over £20,000 cash and a high-powered air rifle. They jumped back into the silver Insignia, where a getaway driver waited, before speeding off down Featherbed Lane, leaving shaken residents behind.
