£100K in Stolen Plant Machinery Seized After Major Kent Bust
Kent’s Rural Task Force has made arrests and recovered over £100,000 worth of stolen plant machinery in a cracking ongoing investigation.
Recovered Stolen Loot from Across Kent
The stolen gear was seized from sites on the Isle of Sheppey and near Marden, Maidstone. The heavy kit had been reported stolen between December 2023 and March 2024 from Wrotham.
Officers also found a large stolen trailer from Lower Stoke near Hoo (taken in July 2023) and a digger reported stolen from a London site back in December 2022.
In total, cops have recovered three excavators, three trailers, and numerous power tools.
Three Men Arrested, One Still in Custody
- A 34-year-old man from Coxheath was arrested on 28 March 2024, now out on bail until 25 June.
- A 40-year-old man from Gillingham was arrested on 6 April and released on bail until 27 June.
- Most recently, on 25 April, a 35-year-old Gillingham man was arrested and remains in custody while enquiries continue.
Police Call for More Leads
Police Sergeant Ross Haybourne of Kent Police’s Rural Task Force said: “We have recovered a significant number of plant machinery and believe there may be more stolen machines linked to this investigation. We encourage anyone who believes they have information to get in touch as it may assist our investigation.”
