Police caught a thief red-handed in a Crescent Road car park as he rifled through the boot of a BMW. The suspect tried to make a run for it but was nabbed nearby and hauled into custody.
A shopping trolley packed with suspected stolen goods — including a laptop and headphones — was seized at the scene.
Suspect on Bail, Investigations Ongoing
The 25-year-old suspect is now on bail with strict conditions to return to the police station in January 2024. Officers are digging deeper to build a solid case against him.
Inspector Issues Theft Warning
Inspector Ian Jones from Tunbridge Wells Community Safety unit urged motorists to stay sharp. He said: “While our officers regularly patrol town centres and car parks, it’s vital drivers don’t make life easy for thieves.”
He added: “Always double-check your car locks and confirm remote locking has activated. Wherever possible, remove valuables from your vehicle and mark belongings with security tags to deter thieves and make stolen goods harder to flog.”
