Police appeal following fatal stabbing in Islington
Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the fatal stabbing of a man in Islington. The assault happened at approximately 18:30hrs on Monday, 21 May on Upper Street, near the junction with Tyndale Lane, N1. Police and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) were called to reports of a man having been stabbed. Officers and LAS attended and found a man with multiple stab wounds. Despite attempts to save him; he was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed The victim is believed to be a 30-year-old man from Haringey, but formal identification awaits. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. Officers are conducting active enquiries to find the person responsible. A number of forensic scenes remain in place. Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are leading the investigation. Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, said: “This was a brutal attack that was carried out on a busy street in broad daylight. I am asking anyone who saw the assault or has any information to contact detectives. “In particular we would like to hear from anyone who was driving in the area around this time and has dash-cam footage.
