The Metropolitan Police have launched an appeal for witnesses and information following a fatal shooting on Wells Park Road in Sydenham, SE26, on the morning of Sunday, November 10.
Emergency services responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 10:10 a.m. Officers and ambulance teams arrived to find a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite their best efforts, the man tragically died at the scene. Authorities are working to establish his identity and notify his family, with a post-mortem examination planned in due course.
A woman was also found with gunshot injuries to her legs and was transported to the hospital. Her injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening. Additionally, a third individual arrived at the hospital with suspected gunshot wounds, and police are awaiting an assessment of their condition.
No arrests have been made so far, and investigations are ongoing. Commander Peter Stevens expressed concern over the incident: “I know people will be shocked by this senseless act of violence, especially on a Sunday morning in a residential area. I share their concerns and can assure the local community that the Met’s response has been rapid.”
Commander Stevens confirmed that additional officers, including forensic experts, will be present in the area, with police cordons likely to remain in place as investigations continue. “A number of people have already contacted us, and we need that flow of information from anyone who saw or heard anything of note to continue. We also need to hear from anyone who has phone, CCTV, or doorbell footage that may help the investigation,” he added.
