Man Killed in Horror Strathaven Van Crash
Tragedy struck Strathaven on Saturday morning after a van ploughed into three pedestrians on the busy A726 Glasgow Road. Police were called at around 10.50am following the deadly smash on 1 April 2023.
One Dead, Two Injured After Shocking Collision
- A 29-year-old man was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
- A 52-year-old woman was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she remains in serious but stable condition.
- A 24-year-old woman was treated at Wishaw General Hospital and later discharged.
Van Driver Arrested Then Released Amid Probe
The 47-year-old driver behind the wheel was arrested following the incident but has since been released pending further enquiries.
Police Urge Witnesses to Step Forward
“Although a number of people assisted at the time, we would still ask for witnesses to the collision, or motorists with dash-cam footage capturing the collision, to get in touch with police. Please call officers on 101 quoting reference number 1300 of Saturday, 1 April 2023.” – Police Scotland spokesperson
The A726 route was closed for nearly five hours but has now fully reopened.
