Armed Burglars Spark Chaos on Strabane’s Main Street
Police are hunting two men who went on a terrifying rampage in Strabane early this Sunday morning. At around 7.30am, the duo forced their way into a Main Street apartment, reportedly armed with an axe.
Vandals Smash Windows, Throw Items at Police
The suspects caused major damage to the building’s communal areas and smashed windows. They threw objects at officers from the apartment before storming about with additional weapons found inside. Threats were made against police during the ordeal, forcing nearby residents to be told to lock their doors and stay away from windows.
Suspects Surrender Amid Armed Police Response
Armed response teams quickly arrived on the scene and just before 8.30am, the men gave themselves up. Chief Inspector Luke Moyne revealed:
“The two men were detained at the scene. A 26-year-old man is arrested on suspicion of burglary, criminal damage, assault on police, and breach of licence conditions. A 36-year-old man is also arrested on suspicion of burglary. Both are receiving medical attention.”
