Police Bust ‘Chop Shop’ in Retford
Late last night, officers swooped on West Carr Business Park in Retford after reports of cars and vans being stripped for parts. Arriving at around 11:35pm on 19 March, police discovered a haul of vehicle components and several transit vans mid-dismantle.
Three Suspects Arrested Over Vehicle Theft
Police detained three men, aged 24, 31, and 37, on suspicion of theft of motor vehicles. All three remain in custody as the investigation heats up. Officers also seized a number of mobile phones found on site and are currently checking the vehicles recovered.
Police Ramp Up Local Crackdown
Sergeant Rachel Dowsett of Nottinghamshire Police praised the quick work of officers:
“Officers on patrol last night did a great job in locating this suspected ‘chop shop’ where suspected stolen vehicles were being dismantled for their parts.”
“We know the impact car theft can have on people, which is why we work with other forces to trace vehicles and disrupt people who look to profit from their illegal actions.”
“I would urge anyone who thinks they know where stolen cars are being handled, dismantled or suspect a unit is being used for criminal purposes to get in touch.”
CCTV footage and local inquiries are ongoing. Expect a heightened police presence in the area as officers follow up leads.
