Police Swarm Shanklin Flat in Mystery Incident
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police are holding a tense presence at a flat on Steephill Road, Shanklin. Officers descended on The Post House just after 3pm on Sunday and remain on the second floor, keeping watch.
Residents Locked Down Amid Police Operation
Neighbours inside the block have been told to stay indoors as two officers stand guard. Multiple officers were spotted entering the flat, but details remain vague. It’s unclear whether anyone has been arrested.
Local Resident Speaks Out
“I saw police arrive just after 3.10pm. There were two vans and two police cars, some parked near Shanklin Theatre. We often get police about because of some of the undesirables living here,” said one shocked resident, who wished to remain anonymous. “This used to be a nice road but it’s gone downhill fast.”
Major Crime Units Now on Scene
Scene of Crime officers took control, with two uniformed officers and two Major Crime Officers now on site. A nearby business owner at The 1 of Spice spotted police and an ambulance around 4pm but said, “They’re not telling us anything. I’m just hoping it’s not a murder.”
Hampshire Police have been approached for comment. More updates to follow.
