Police crackdown in Broxtowe is paying off, but the fight isn’t over yet. Tackling drug dealing and antisocial behaviour remains top priority for local officers determined to clean up the streets.
Drug Crime Slashed, Antisocial Behaviour Crashes
Big wins against drug dealers and antisocial nuisances are turning heads. Operation Potassium, a focused effort in Beeston, has slashed antisocial behaviour reports by a whopping 31%.
“Drug dealing in our area brings antisocial behaviour, theft, violence, and exploitation of vulnerable people,” said Inspector Mike Ebbins, Broxtowe District Commander. “Thanks to tips from the community, we’ve made massive strides.”
His team is executing three drug warrants every week and racking up arrests and cash seizures. Police are even working with housing teams to shut down properties used for criminal activity.
New Target: Vehicle Theft
Vehicle theft now bags a spot as a fresh crime priority.
Inspector Ebbins explained, “We want to tackle bike theft in town centres and cars and motorbikes stolen across the wider borough. Officers will deploy capture bike tech to catch thieves and trace stolen goods.”
Second-hand shops will also face tighter checks to stop fencing stolen wheels.
Community Help Key to Success
Inspector Ebbins urges anyone affected by crime to speak up.
“Whether it’s drug crime, antisocial behaviour, or vehicle theft, we’re here to help and tirelessly working to tackle the issues that matter to you.”
