Tragic Triple Deaths Found in Clayponds Road Home

Police forced their way into a flat on Golden Mile House, Clayponds Road, just after 12.50am on Tuesday, 6 October. They were responding to welfare concerns about the occupants.

Inside, officers discovered the bodies of 36-year-old Poorna Kaameshwari Sivaraj and her three-year-old son, Kailash Kuha Raj. A 42-year-old man was also found with stab wounds but despite efforts by police and paramedics, he died at the scene.

The man was identified as Kuha Raj Sithamparanathan — Poorna’s husband and Kailash’s father.

Investigation Launches Into Shocking Family Tragedy

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Harding from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the murder probe. He said:

“Although we are in the early stages, it appears Poorna and Kailash had been dead for some time. This is a murder investigation and we will work tirelessly to uncover the sequence of events that led to their deaths and that of Kuha Raj Sithamparanathan.”

Police believe the family may not have been seen since around 21 September. The family often walked their poodle crossbreed dog in the local area. Officers urge anyone who spotted them recently to get in touch.

“We are deeply aware of the devastation this has caused to the families,” Harding added. “We are committed to providing answers about what happened here.”

Community on Edge as Police Patrols Increase

West Area BCU Commander Peter Gardner acknowledged the shock gripping locals:

“This horrific incident has caused enormous shock and concern. Our thoughts are with the family and friends affected. I thank the officers and paramedics who responded professionally under traumatic circumstances.”

Gardner confirmed extra patrols will be seen in the area to reassure residents. He urged anyone with worries to speak to officers on the ground.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Announce IOPC Referral

Officers were first called on Sunday, 4 October, by a family member worried about Poorna’s welfare. Multiple visits to the property on Monday, 5 October, got no response. Intensified concern from neighbours led to the forced entry.

The Directorate of Professional Standards has referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). This is because evidence suggests Kuha Raj Sithamparanathan fatally injured himself upon police entry, which requires mandatory referral.
