£10,000 Up for Grabs in Hunt for Wilson’s Killer on First Anniversary

Detectives are desperate for leads as they mark a year since Wilson Alexandre Garcia Varela was brutally gunned down in a shocking drive-by shooting. A £10,000 reward is now on offer for information that helps catch his killers.

Drive-By Shooting in Kentish Town Killed 24-Year-Old Wilson

Wilson, 24, from Forest Gate, east London, was shot dead in what police believe was a tragic case of mistaken identity. Just before midnight on Sunday, 8 September, London Ambulance Service rushed to reports of a shooting on Malden Road, Kentish Town, NW5. Officers, including firearms units and London’s Air Ambulance, arrived quickly but found Wilson fatally wounded. He was pronounced dead at 12:10am on Monday, 9 September.

CCTV Footage Tracks Killers’ Escape Route

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Stancombe of the Specialist Crime Command revealed key details. “A shotgun was fired. The offenders fled on a moped, which we’ve followed via CCTV from the murder scene to Surr Street, Holloway.”

“Were you there? Did you see a suspicious moped or riders waiting by Marsden Street near Malden Road? No detail is too small. Someone out there knows who did this,” he urged.

Family’s Pain Lingers, Police Plead for Justice

Wilson’s family and partner have been left devastated. DCI Stancombe added: “Wilson had a bright future stolen in a senseless act. We need people to stop protecting a killer and come forward. Help us get this monster off the streets before they strike again.”

Despite arrests of two men aged 21 and 22 in October 2019, both suspects were released and remain under investigation.

Crimestoppers Offers Full Anonymity and £10,000 Reward

Crimestoppers is backing the appeal with a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to a conviction. London Regional Manager Alexa Loukas said:

“Wilson’s family deserve justice. If you know anything, come forward anonymously. We promise 100% secrecy. No one will know your identity, calls cannot be traced, and you don’t need to share personal info.”

“You can call 0800 555 111 or visit Crimestoppers’ website. Young people can also report safely via Fearless.org.”

The clock is ticking. Help bring Wilson’s killer to justice and stop them from hurting anyone else.
