Police Return to Fatal Enfield Hit-and-Run Scene One Year On
Police have returned to the scene of a fatal hit-and-run in Enfield, urging witnesses to come forward as the case marks its first anniversary.
Steven Howard Tragically Killed Crossing Road
Just after 5pm on Wednesday, 28 November last year, 52-year-old Steven Howard was struck by a car on Chase Green Avenue near Bycullah Avenue. He was crossing the road when a dark-coloured Smartcar, believed to have a registration plate starting with ‘E’, hit him. The driver sped off without stopping.
Steven was rushed to a North London hospital but sadly died from his injuries on Saturday, 1 December.
Officers Appeal for New Witnesses
Despite extensive investigations and witness interviews, the driver remains at large. Detectives from the Met’s Roads and Transport Command are back at the scene, hoping to track down anyone with fresh information.
Detective Urges Driver to Do the Right Thing
“Today marks one year since a driver left Mr Howard fighting for his life on the cold pavement without any regard for his pain,” said Detective Sergeant José-Paulo Qureshi.
“I hope the hit-and-run is weighing on the driver’s conscience and they will come forward now. We also want to hear from anyone who may know something – maybe they noticed unexplained damage to a friend’s car or suspicious behaviour after the incident.”
“If you have any information, please call police on 101 immediately.”
