Knife Fight Chaos in Cambridge: Three Jailed
Gordon Lee Gulliford, 43, his son Tommy Lee Gulliford, 23, and Jimmy Willett, 22, sparked terror in Chesterton, Cambridge, during a vicious brawl on Ashfield Road at around 12.45pm on 21 April 2019.
Weapons and Violence on the Streets
Police were called after reports of a group of men armed with a machete, knife, and baseball bat. The shocking melee saw a white Fiat reversed into a man, leaving him with a nasty cut across his buttock. Another victim suffered serious—but thankfully not life-threatening—injuries.
Justice Served at Cambridge Crown Court
- On 27 April, Gordon Lee Gulliford of Jubilee Crescent, Stowupland, Suffolk, was jailed for 12 months after pleading guilty to affray.
- Tommy Lee Gulliford, from Ross Street, Cambridge, was sentenced on 6 March to 12 months, to run alongside existing charges.
- Jimmy Willett of Frank’s Lane, Cambridge, was handed 17 months consecutive to previous convictions.
- Deon Thomas, 28, from Alice Bell Close, Cambridge, received a suspended sentence of 17 months after pleading guilty to affray.
Police Clampdown on Knife Crime
“This fight terrorised people in Chesterton and we will not tolerate violence that puts other people and their property in danger,” said DC Ciaron Hickey. “Knife crime is a priority for the neighbourhood policing team in Cambridge and we are determined to bring those who carry a weapon in the city to justice.”
