Alarm as Man Stalks Women in Stoke Park Woods

Hampshire police are on high alert after reports of a man following females in Stoke Park Woods, Bishopstoke. Locals are rattled, with some women left running for safety. Patrols have been stepped up, and group walks are being organised to boost security.

Police Step Up Patrols After Multiple Reports

Hampshire Constabulary confirmed they are conducting high-visibility patrols in Stoke Park Woods, Fair Oak, and Bishopstoke after suspicious activity was reported. Officers urge anyone spotting strange behaviour to call 101 or dial 999 in an emergency.

An earlier warning said: “A male has followed females on several occasions in the woodland, causing alarm and forcing some to flee.

How to Stay Safe: Police Advice

Reports today detail a man in a black hoodie and dark grey/black shorts following females over a distance. Police warn women not to walk alone where possible and to call 999 immediately if they feel threatened.

Sergeant Kevin Hercock from Eastleigh police said:

“While social media posts show community concern, please report incidents directly to police rather than online. Third-hand reports could hinder investigations. If you feel you have been followed, contact us on 101 or use our online reporting tool.”

Police advise runners to stick to daylight hours and follow these safety tips:

  • Use well-lit routes
  • Wear bright, reflective clothing
  • Vary your route and timing
  • Stay alert—avoid headphones
  • Carry your phone for emergencies
  • Run with a buddy if possible

If you suspect someone is following you:

  • Cross the road—see if they do the same
  • Head to a busy public place (petrol station, pub, shop)
  • Call someone to meet you
  • Report the incident to police straight away

Community Urged to Stay Vigilant and Report Suspicious Behaviour

Police continue to investigate the incidents and thank the public for their ongoing support. They stress that accurate reports are crucial in tackling this disturbing behaviour and keeping the community safe.
