Tragic Blaze Claims Schoolgirl and Woman’s Lives in Bletchley
A devastating house fire in Bletchley, near Milton Keynes, has claimed the lives of a 15-year-old schoolgirl and a 67-year-old woman. The blaze broke out shortly after 12:10pm on Friday, 30 May, on St Patrick’s Way. Despite the quick response by firefighters, both victims – including local teenager Ann Eyre – were pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbours Recall ‘Loud Screams’ Amid Fire Horror
Shocked neighbours were awakened by frantic screams and cries for help. Gabriel, who lives next door, described hearing desperate calls to “break the door” as flames engulfed the house.
“There were loud screams, and I heard someone shouting, ‘break the door,’” Gabriel told the BBC. “The scene was unimaginable.”
Fire crews arrived within 10 minutes of the emergency call and battled the blaze, but sadly could not save the two victims.
Victims Named: Young Ann Eyre Among Dead
Thames Valley Police have confirmed that the teenage victim is Ann Eyre, a local schoolgirl known in the Bletchley community. The identity of the 67-year-old woman has not yet been released.
“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the victims of this tragic fire,” a police spokesperson said. “We ask the public to respect the family’s privacy at this incredibly difficult time.”
Investigation Launched – Fire Cause ‘Unexplained’
The cause of the fire remains a mystery. Thames Valley Police and Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service are leading an investigation and treat the deaths as “unexplained.” No arrests have been made.
Officers are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward to help piece together what happened.
Community Mourns ‘Lovely’ Family
Neighbours described the victims’ household as calm and kind-hearted. The tragedy has left the peaceful Milton Keynes suburb reeling.
Social media has flooded with tributes for Ann Eyre. One user wrote:
