Shocking Late-Night Robbery of Elderly Man in Swindon
Police hunting two suspects after an 81-year-old man was attacked and robbed in Old Town, Swindon. Officers have released CCTV images as part of their urgent investigation.
Victim Attacked From Behind on Croft Road
The incident happened around 11.20pm on April 22, just opposite St Margaret’s Road. The elderly man was walking home when he was struck from behind and fell to the ground. His wallet and keys were stolen in the terrifying robbery.
Despite his injuries, the victim managed to reach home where paramedics treated him before he was taken to Great Western Hospital for further care.
CCTV Footage Captures Two Men of Interest
Detective Constable Mark Harris of Swindon CID described the attack as “nasty and unprovoked,” leaving the victim with head and neck injuries.
“As he was attacked from behind, the victim cannot describe his attackers. But we have released CCTV of two men seen near the Wheatsheaf pub just before the incident. We want to identify and speak to them,” said Det Con Harris.
The suspects were spotted walking past the Wheatsheaf pub, then turning into the top of Croft Road shortly before the robbery occurred.
