Religious Statues Stolen in Shocking Church Theft
A statue of Jesus on a crucifix, along with two other prized religious figures, has been stolen from St Luke’s Church in Irlams o’th Height, Salford. Locals and parishioners are left stunned and upset by the brazen theft.
Electric Saw Used to Cut Away Crucifix and Figures
The Parish of Our Lady of Hope revealed on social media that thieves likely used an electric saw to slice the statues away. Alongside Jesus on the crucifix, a kneeling angel and the figure of St Bernadette were also taken.
Parish officials found drag marks on the ground, suggesting the statues were hauled to a vehicle parked in the church car park before the thieves made their getaway.
Community Outraged by Heartless Act
The theft, believed to have occurred between January 21 and 22, has sparked fury and heartbreak in the community.
One parishioner called the crime “absolutely heartbreaking,” while another fumed, “That’s disgusting! Is nothing sacred?”
Authorities are investigating this appalling act of sacrilege. The stolen statues hold deep spiritual and sentimental value to locals.
