Six Arrested After Knife and Hammer Brawl on Manchester’s Wilmslow Road
Early this morning, a violent scrap involving knives and hammers erupted on Wilmslow Road, Manchester. Police swooped just before 1:45am on Monday, March 17, after reports of a brutal fight broke out.
Serious Injuries, But No Life Threats
Several people were hurt in the chaos and are now receiving medical treatment. Authorities say the injuries are serious, but thankfully, not life-threatening or life-changing.
Six Men in Custody for Affray
Six men aged between 18 and 24 were arrested at the scene on suspicion of affray. They remain in police custody and face questioning as the investigation continues.
Police Speak Out: Targeted Attack in Busy Area
“Whilst we do believe this to be a targeted attack, we do not underestimate the impact this will have on the local community.
“This incident happened in a busy area, showing an unacceptable disregard for the safety of others. Fortunately, no further injuries have been reported to us, and we were able to arrest those we believe to be involved immediately.” – Detective Inspector Mark Astbury
Increased Police Presence and Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Inspector Astbury also confirmed increased police patrols will stay on Wilmslow Road throughout the day to keep the community safe.

Police are urgently appealing for anyone who witnessed the brawl or captured footage on CCTV, dash cam, or mobile phones to come forward.
