New Chief Superintendent Takes the Helm on Isle of Wight

Superintendent Pegler, a seasoned police officer, started his career with the City of London Police back in 1995 before moving to Hampshire Constabulary. Now appointed to lead policing on the Isle of Wight, he brings decades of experience and a proven track record in senior roles.

Experienced Leader Ready to Crack Down on Crime

Supt Pegler has held key positions including Head of Armed Policing, Head of Custody, and most recently Head of Response and Patrol. He has also served as District Commander for Fareham, Gosport, and portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth, giving him deep insight into tackling local crime effectively.

“I feel very privileged to lead the police service on the Isle of Wight, which is such a unique community and a fantastic place to live and work,” he said. “My focus is to ensure officers and staff deliver the best service to victims and witnesses while working hard to prevent and detect crime.”

Targeting Crime and Keeping the Community Safe

Superintendent Pegler is zeroing in on the small number of offenders who cause the most harm. He vows to stop their criminal activities through tough investigations and prosecutions while seeking diversion for younger offenders.

He added, “Preventing and tackling domestic abuse remains a top priority, alongside disrupting Class A drug supply on the Island. The previous team, led by Superintendent Sarah Jackson, did excellent work arresting drug dealers and gathering intelligence.”

“I want to thank Supt Jackson for her service and I’m excited to continue building on that strong foundation to keep the Isle of Wight safe.”
