Hit-and-Run Van Driver Flees After Ilford Pedestrian Crash
Police are hunting a van driver who slammed into a woman in Ilford and then sped off without stopping.
Crash on Betchworth Road
The collision happened at 9.39am on Tuesday, 29 September, on Betchworth Road. Officers and paramedics rushed to the scene after reports of a crash between a white Ford Transit van and a 28-year-old pedestrian.
The woman suffered bruising to her knee but avoided serious injury.
Driver Description & Police Appeal
The driver, described as a white male in his late 20s to early 30s with blond hair, fled the scene. His van also had a passenger.
Detective Sergeant Dave Parrish of East Area CID is leading the investigation. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with witnesses. No arrests have been made yet.
“We’re treating this matter seriously and keeping an open mind about possible motives,” a police spokesperson said.
