Tragic Knife Death in Barnet: Victim Named as Murder Inquiry Gathers Pace
Anthony Adekola, 22, has been named as the young man fatally stabbed in Barnet last Saturday. Detectives are urgently working to piece together the deadly attack that claimed his life.
Stabbing Shocks NW2 Community
Shortly before 11.05pm on 5 September, London Ambulance Service alerted police to a stabbing on Debden Close, NW2. Officers rushed to Martlesham Walk and found Anthony seriously injured. They immediately gave first aid, joined by paramedics, but despite their desperate efforts, Anthony was pronounced dead at the scene just 40 minutes later.
His family has been informed, and a special post-mortem is underway at Northwick Park Hospital. No suspects are in custody so far.
Murder Investigation Underway
Homicide detectives from the Specialist Crime Command have launched a full murder probe. Detective Chief Inspector Neil John said: “Another life has been tragically lost to knife crime. Our thoughts are with Anthony’s family and friends at this heartbreaking time.”
He urged witnesses to come forward: “If you were in the area and saw or heard anything suspicious, please get in touch.”
Police Call for Public’s Help to Tackle Knife Crime
Chief Superintendent Roy Smith from the North West BCU, which covers Barnet, spoke out: “This is another needless loss on London’s streets. Our officers did their utmost to save Anthony, administering CPR and first aid at the scene.”
He added that police are using all tactics to curb violence, including stop and search operations that have recently removed deadly weapons from NW London streets. Officers will be patrolling local areas and encourage residents to share information or concerns.
