Third Man Dies After Horror Three-Car Smash in Upper Gornal

A third man has tragically died following a three-vehicle collision in Upper Gornal this morning. The victim, a 22-year-old, succumbed to his injuries in hospital this afternoon after being rushed there from the scene.

Crash Involving Van and Two Cars on Kent Street

Emergency crews were called to Kent Street just after 7.30am following reports of a crash involving a Ford Transit van, a white Seat, and a white Hyundai i20.

Two men, aged 22 and 28, were pronounced dead at the scene. All three victims were travelling in the Seat.

The van driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

Police Appeal for Witnesses as Investigation Continues

“This is a truly awful tragedy and our thoughts remain with the loved ones of all those affected. Specialist family liaison officers are continuing to support them at this most dreadful time. Investigations are progressing and we’d urge people not to speculate on the circumstances.”

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit urged anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward.
