Officers from the Folkestone Community Policing Team clocked a dodgy rear light on a van and pulled it over in Capel-Le Ferne on Sunday afternoon, 7 November 2021. Inside, they discovered bin bags stuffed with cannabis buds.

Storage raid uncovers massive cannabis grow

Following the roadside find, cops traced the suspects to a storage unit on Spitfire Way, Manston. There, they seized over 100 cannabis plants along with all the gear needed to cultivate the illegal crop.

Three men arrested but later released pending investigation

  • A 46-year-old from Broadstairs
  • Two men from Margate, aged 51 and 59

All three were arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation but have since been released under investigation.

Police vow to crack down on drug crime in Kent

Chief Inspector Alice Ames, District Commander for Folkestone and Hythe, said: “This is a brilliant example of how the professional curiosity of officers can lead to great results.

“Drugs are not tolerated in Kent and very often have a damaging impact not just on the vulnerable who use them but on the wider community too. Officers will continue to disrupt illegal activity and take action against those responsible.”
