Police Hunt Suspect After Two Shocking Sex Attacks in Ilford
Detectives are urgently appealing for witnesses after two disturbing sexual offences rocked the Goodmayes area of Ilford.
Rape Reported at Orchards Playing Field
Police were called around 7:20pm on Wednesday, 28 April, following a woman’s allegation that she was raped by an unknown man. A crime scene was set up in Orchards Playing Field off 1 Lane. Specialist officers are supporting the victim.
Man Exposes Himself in Goodmayes Park
Just two weeks later, on Tuesday, 13 May, a second woman reported a man exposed himself to her in Goodmayes Park between 8pm and 9pm. Both attackers are described as white, with short dark hair and stubble.
CCTV Images Released – Can You Help?
After combing through local CCTV, detectives have released two images of a suspect seen near both attacks. In April, the man wore a dark or navy jacket with red sleeves or a gilet over a red top, with a distinctive white, red, and blue band at the bottom. He had dark trousers and carried a rucksack.
In May, the same man appeared wearing a dark gilet over a grey top and black trousers. Police believe there’s a strong chance it’s the same individual.
Detective Constable Chris Maxim urged: “While we can’t confirm it’s the same man, the description and clothes are very similar. We’re working closely with partners and need the public’s help to catch whoever’s responsible.”
No arrests have been made yet, and enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information should call 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting CAD 6760/28Apr or CAD 8257/13May.
