Tragedy Strikes as Three Boys Die in Frozen Lake at Solihull

Devastation hit Babbs Mill Park in Solihull yesterday when three young boys fell into a frozen lake. Despite frantic rescue efforts, the 11, 10, and 8-year-olds were pronounced dead early this morning.

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

The boys were pulled from icy waters by West Midlands emergency teams and rushed to hospital. Sadly, a police spokesperson confirmed they could not be revived by 12:01 on 12 December. A fourth boy, aged six, remains in critical condition.

Families Supported, Investigation Underway

West Midlands Police are supporting the boys’ families with specialist liaison officers. Searches at the lake continue as officers work to piece together what happened and check if others were involved.

“We’ve been working alongside fire and ambulance services, doing all we can to support those involved,” said a West Midlands Police spokesperson.

“We urge people not to speculate or share any footage at this sensitive time. Anyone with information or videos should contact us via the police website.”

Emergency Services Express Heartfelt Condolences

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “Our sincerest condolences to the families and friends of the three boys who have tragically died. Our thoughts remain with the fourth boy and his family.”

West Midlands Fire & Rescue Service added: “We are extremely saddened by this tragic loss despite the best efforts of emergency services.”
