Three Dead, One Critical After Horror M25 Crash Near Waltham Abbey

Three people have died and a fourth is fighting for life after a severe crash involving a Ford Mondeo, a minibus, and a lorry on the M25 near Waltham Abbey.

Fatal Collision Shuts Down Key Motorway Stretch

Essex Police confirmed the smash happened shortly before 6.15pm between junctions 26 and 27, close to the M11 interchange. The anti-clockwise carriageway remains completely shut as emergency crews work tirelessly at the grim scene.

East of England Ambulance Service revealed multiple casualties were treated, with one victim in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Two Drivers Arrested Over Deadly Crash

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We are saddened to confirm three fatalities following this evening’s collision. Our thoughts are with the families as we work to inform them and urge no speculation out of respect.”

Detective Sergeant Steve Holmes of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit added: “Two drivers have now been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury. We are piecing together exactly what led to this tragic incident.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

  • Police want to trace the movements of all vehicles involved: a Mondeo, minibus, and lorry.
  • Anyone with dashcam footage or information is urged to contact Essex Police immediately.

Detective Holmes said: “This has been an incredibly challenging evening. We thank drivers for their patience and hope to reopen the motorway by 2am.”
