Weekend chaos in North Staffordshire saw three patients plucked from danger in two daring rescue ops.
Man Plummets on The Roaches—Serious Injuries
On Sunday at 1:14pm, West Midlands Ambulance Service and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team rushed to The Roaches, Upper Hulme, Leek, after a man fell from a height and was trapped halfway up a hillside.
A spokeswoman said: “The patient suffered multiple serious injuries. Ambulance crews worked with mountain rescuers to reach and treat him on site. Specialist trauma care was then given by air ambulance staff including a doctor before he was rushed to Royal Stoke University Hospital.”
His condition remains very serious.
Two Walkers Trapped at Thor’s Cave—Safe After Two-Hour Rescue
On Saturday, a man and woman got stuck on a steep slope near Thor’s Cave, Leek Road, Wetton.
The spokeswoman revealed: “Crews, including paramedics, Mountain Rescue, Fire Service, and the Hazardous Area Response Team, teamed up for a tricky two-hour rope rescue.”
Both patients were checked over but suffered no injuries and were released on scene.
