Tragic Fire Devastates French Riviera Town of Grasse

A deadly blaze tore through a residential building in Grasse, the famous perfume capital on the French Riviera, in the early hours of Sunday. Firefighters confirmed three people have died in the inferno.

Casualties Mount as Fire Rips Through Historic Building

Three others were seriously injured, with an additional four suffering less severe wounds, firefighters revealed. The fire was contained, but conditions of the victims remain critical, said Aymeric Soufflet from the fire service.

Cause Unknown as Flames Engulf Top Floors

The fire, which broke out around 3:00 am local time, ravaged only the top three floors of the historic building, leaving its façade blackened and burnt. The cause of the blaze is still unknown.

Emergency crews found the body of a person who had jumped from the building on arrival, while two more victims were discovered inside.

Survivors Recall Terrifying Escape Attempts

Neighbours shared chilling stories. Martine, from a nearby building, heard alarms and desperate cries. She said a terrified woman shouted “Fire!” and begged her to call the fire brigade. A man trying to flee by climbing down fell to his death.
