Two Teens Held After Brutal Stabbing Near Chelmsford Play Area
Two teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an 18-year-old was stabbed close to a children’s playground in Chelmsford.
Victim Rushed to Hospital in Serious Condition
Police were called to Avon Road at around 8:25pm on Tuesday following reports of a stabbing involving a teenager. The 18-year-old victim was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Thankfully, police say his condition is now stable and no longer believed to be life-threatening.
Suspects Aged Just 16 and 17 in Custody
Authorities detained two boys, aged 16 and 17, on suspicion of attempted murder. Detective Inspector Guy Turnbull thanked members of the public who have already come forward with valuable information.
“Every piece of information may help us complete the picture of the events of last night. We have several teams of officers working on this investigation,” said Det Insp Turnbull. “You will see police officers in the Avon Road area throughout the day.”
“We want to assure the public that we believe this is an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the community.”
Community on Alert, Police Appeal for Footage
The attack, near a children’s play area, has rattled locals. Police remain on scene and urge anyone with doorbell or dashcam footage to come forward to assist in their inquiries.
