Man Shot Dead by Armed Police in Central London
A man was shot dead by police in Central London late Sunday evening after reportedly brandishing knives. The dramatic incident unfolded just after 11:30pm on 8 March, sparking a major police lockdown in Westminster.
Police Patrol Turns Deadly
Officers on patrol spotted a man acting suspiciously near Great Scotland Yard shortly before 11:30pm. When challenged, the man produced two knives, forcing armed officers to respond.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Police officers were on patrol at around 11.25pm on Sunday when they noticed a man who they believed was acting suspiciously. The officers challenged him, and he produced two knives.”
Armed Response and Scene Lockdown
Armed officers discharged both a Taser and a firearm during the confrontation. London Ambulance Service attended the scene, but the man was pronounced dead shortly after.
No officers or members of the public were injured during the incident.
Westminster in Lockdown as Investigation Underway
- A major police cordon closed the A400 Northumberland Avenue between Victoria Embankment and Charles I Roundabout.
