Tragic Blaze Claims Life of 80-Year-Old Woman in Walthamstow

An elderly woman in her 80s has tragically died after a house fire ripped through her East London home in the early hours.

Fire Breaks Out on Higham Hill Road

At around 5.30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, emergency services were called to a blaze on Higham Hill Road, near the Mayfield Road junction in Walthamstow. Six fire engines and a turntable ladder from the London Fire Brigade rushed to the scene.

Woman Pronounced Dead at Scene

Despite firefighters’ efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s next of kin have been informed, bringing a sombre end to the incident.

Fire Not Being Treated as Suspicious

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed the fire is not considered suspicious. The area remains cordoned off as fire investigators work to determine the exact cause of the blaze.
