Woman Mauled to Death by Own XL Bully Dogs in East London
A woman in her 50s has been fatally mauled by her XL Bully dogs on a quiet street in Hornchurch, East London. Armed officers rushed to the scene on Cornwall Close just after 1pm following emergency calls about a “critical incident.” Despite the rapid response from firearms officers and London’s Air Ambulance, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chaos on Cornwall Close as Neighbours React in Horror
Neighbours on the cul-de-sac described a terrifying scene. One local said, “The dogs weren’t killed, they’ve taken them away. There have been vans back and forth non-stop since lunchtime, and we saw the helicopter overhead. You assume the worst and panic it’s children or something. You never think a dog’s going to do that. It’s awful.”
Crime Scene Locks Down Berkshire Way
By 9pm, Berkshire Way—the only road leading to Cornwall Close on Hornchurch’s County Park Estate—remained sealed off as a crime scene. The XL Bully dogs were contained inside a room prior to police arrival.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed, “We sent resources to include ambulance crews, an incident response officer, and London’s air ambulance. We treated a person but sadly, despite our efforts, they were pronounced dead at the scene.”
New XL Bully Dog Restrictions Spark Fresh Debate
This horrific attack comes amid fresh restrictions on XL Bully dogs, which were introduced on December 31. In the three years before the ban, 23 people lost their lives in incidents involving these dogs across the UK.
