Liz Truss’s Phone Hacked by Russian Spies – Government Covered It Up!
While serving as foreign secretary, Liz Truss’s phone was allegedly hacked by suspected Russian spies. The chilling breach exposed sensitive talks about the Ukraine war and private digs at Boris Johnson – yet the bombshell was hushed up by Johnson himself and Cabinet Secretary Simon Case.
Russian Hackers Accessed Top Secret Talks
The Mail on Sunday reveals that Putin’s spies reportedly infiltrated Truss’s phone last summer. They reportedly accessed confidential chats with foreign officials about the Ukraine conflict. Even more explosively, private conversations between Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng mocking Johnson were intercepted – putting them at risk of blackmail.
Opposition Calls for Urgent Probe
Labour and the Lib Dems have slammed the government’s silence and demand an immediate investigation. Labour’s shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper warned:
“There are enormously important national security issues raised by an attack like this by a hostile state, which will have been taken extremely seriously by our intelligence and security agencies.”
“All these security issues must be investigated and addressed at the highest level.”
Lib Dem Foreign Affairs spokesperson Layla Moran said:
“Was Liz Truss’s phone hacked by Russia, was there a news blackout, and if so, why? It would be unforgivable if this information was withheld from the public to protect Liz Truss’s leadership bid.”
“We cannot allow Conservative Party political games to trump national security.”
Government Stays Tight-Lipped on Phone Security
A government spokesperson insisted “robust systems” are in place including regular security briefings for ministers and personal data advice. However, they refused to comment on individual security arrangements, adding to concerns about what really happened behind closed doors.
This serious cyber-attack and the alleged cover-up raise big questions about the UK’s cybersecurity and the competence of Boris Johnson and Simon Case. Will the government come clean or bury the story once again?
